Splendid South: 7 Days of South Island Magic
Imagine a week-long loop through New Zealand’s dramatic South Island – beginning and ending in Christchurch – with a scenic journey across the Southern Alps via Arthur’s Pass to the rugged West Coast.
Take in turquoise gorges and ancient rainforests before a helicopter flight over the Franz Josef Glacier and Aoraki/Mt Cook. Stay at a remote wilderness eco-lodge tucked between lush forest and wild coastline, with guided nature walks and gourmet meals.
Traverse the Haast Pass into the Southern Lakes, through Wānaka and over the Crown Range to Queenstown, where you’ll stay in a private villa with open fires and panoramic views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. From here, opt for an unforgettable scenic flight and cruise through Milford Sound, or relax with wine tasting, hot pools, and jetboat adventures.
Onwards through the dramatic Lindis Pass to the glacial lakes and high country of Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, before returning to Christchurch via Lake Tekapo and its iconic lakeside chapel. Ski New Zealand in style with this 4-day luxury escape to Queenstown, crafted especially for Australian travellers. Based at the five-star Rees Hotel on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, you’ll enjoy two days on the slopes, unforgettable food and wine experiences, and full concierge support from start to finish.
Your trip begins with a personal airport welcome and a private transfer to your lakeview suite. After a gear fitting and time to settle in, you’ll explore the Gibbston wine region on a private art and wine tour before indulging in a chef’s table dinner at Aosta in Arrowtown.
Days 2 and 3 are all about skiing Coronet Peak or The Remarkables with lift passes, premium gear hire, and private transfers included. You can choose to add a ski lesson or local guide — or even upgrade to a heli-ski experience with a mountaintop picnic. Unwind after your day with a private soak at Onsen Hot Pools, followed by dinners at two of Queenstown’s finest: Rātā and Jervois Steak House.
On your final morning, there’s time for a relaxed breakfast and optional activities like a lakeside walk, jetboating, or a gondola ride before your private transfer to the airport.
